At 1:30 p.m., VP David Henry called the meeting to order in the absence of President Sherry Foecking.

He thanked the Kirk committee plus additional volunteers who set-up the meeting room. He welcomed one guest, the sister of Mrs. Kirk.  He thanked those who provided refreshments:  Charlie Delp, Jim Kaehler, Caye Wheeler, Rose Terenzi and Nancy Sjoberg.

Following a few announcements he introduced David Palmer who conducted the Q & A program.  The panel consisted of Myron Thorner, Donna Gilbert, and Bob Capellini.  Mr. Thorner started the program with a short presentation covering Windows 8 (.1) Keyboard Shortcuts; What has been added in Windows 8; and Do I have to use the METRO/Tiles Interface?

The Q & A panel tackled the following questions, among others:

  • How can I speed up my computer’s start up?
  • What does hibernating my PC mean?
  • Can I enlarge the type on a website?
  • Is it safe to view an email photo attachment?
  • Is it safe to unsubscribe from annoying emails?
  • Sometimes clicking a button doesn’t do anything.
  • What to do with a frozen pointer?
  • Is Gmail safer from viruses than other email servers?

There were many additional comments from the audience.
