OLLI’s Back-to-School Open House was held September 13 at the Carrollwood Cultural Center.

Thanks to all the board members and volunteers who showed up today to support our Back to School Open House!

We broke a record today on two — TWO – fronts:

Total headcount: 283

Total guests/visitors: 91

The previous record Open House attendance was 2007, when we kicked off the LMUMC partnership. I believe our previous record for guests was on of the Centro Open Houses last year. Obviously, couldn’t have done it without all the help and support we saw today. Let’s see if those record numbers translate into record enrollment! We have space available in virtually every fall course.

I’ll keep you posted on how the fall shapes up. I was pleased with the “vibe” in the room—despite the crowded conditions, folks seemed to enjoy the program (Steve Otto was the perfect speaker!) and they stayed with us throughout. It probably helped that it was one of the shortest programs ever, in just over one hour.

Kudos to the Social Events, Membership-Recruitment and Volunteer Management committees, who presented our friendliest face, and kept their grace despite the hordes of attendees. I hope you will pass my thanks and appreciation along to your committee members!

My deep appreciation also to the OLLI staff for the support they provided. Couldn’t have done it without you, either! And wouldn’t want to.

PS—someone left a pair of glasses at the CCC. They were found on the stage. Are they yours?
