Want to customize the arrangement of your Windows 7 desktop icons?
Here’s how:
Move your mouse cursor over to a blank spot on your desktop screen. Then Right Click, and select the View option.
Uncheck Auto Arrange Icons. This will allow you to click on and move your desktop icons wherever you please and they will stay where you put them until you decide to rearrange them again.

Note: you may find it helpful to also select the Align icons to grid option to assist you in making neat, orderly rows.
