Vice-President Frank Weitzman presided over the meeting this month.  He encouraged us to use our website ollilifeusf.org.  It is continuously updated and has all kinds of information.  If you would like to coach, click the Computer Class Grids link on this website and then contact Cecelia Vance.  There are a few openings left.  We have sent a card to Don Nores and call to see how he is.  He has been unable to attend meetings for quite a while.  We could use another secretary as Linda Fairbanks has now moved to Tallahassee.  Contact Frank if you would like to help out even for a few months.

Next month’s program will be another of our popular Q & A sessions.  It will be held at the same time, but in another room upstairs at the church.

Today’s program, “Why Smart Phones Are Smart,” by Jay Hall, was extremely well received by the audience.  It was packed with lots of facts, definitions and background information about phones, as well as what they can do today such as: navigation, shopping, sleeping alarms, dining reservations, video and music, apps for health & exercise and much more.  We are now transitioning from 3G to 4G and Tampa is the first metropolitan area that is 4th Generation.  The program  was the condensed version of a longer OLLI seminar or class which Jay is preparing for a later date.
